Applied Research Associates (ARA) seeks an experienced Principal Strategic Analyst to support government Research and Development (R&D) efforts in support of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). This highly skilled person will participate in strategic discussions to support development of defeat technologies and material solutions to support global integration. The Principal Strategic Analyst will work with government, global partners and contractor team members to conceptualize integration and develop counter proliferation technologies to delay, deter and defeat current and emerging Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).
Applicants should have extensive experience in the areas of DTRA R&D support best practices, paired with strategic awareness of international concerns. Experience in operational development and support for OCONUS entities is preferred. The Strategic Analyst (SA) will directly support leadership interactions and provide assistance to balance operational requirements with multi-agency/entity desires to stay within Division focus alignments. The SA provides recommendations to the government to assist in the development of key relationships in domestic and/or international government markets, with a primary responsibility to identify and develop opportunities for integration. The SA acts as liaison with government agencies and offices external to DTRA.
This position supports remote/hybrid work.
Principal Strategic Analyst Required Education and Experience:
Must be a US citizen with an Top Secret clearance with SCI Eligibility
Bachelor’s degree, Political Science (other degrees will be considered) along with 12-15 years of relevant work experience OR Master’s degree, (emphasis on Foreign Relations preferred) along with 10-13 years of relevant work experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience working at DTRA
Ability to clearly articulate, verbally and in writing, new concepts and capabilities to the team and customers
Willingness to travel to advise and provide direction on advanced R&D programs
Principal Strategic Analyst Preferred Experience:
Management support experience for DOD Special Operations
Knowledge and experience in DTRA planning and programmatic integration
Experience in DOD Project management, Research and Development
Principal Strategic Analyst Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively support CXC Division planning and objective development – attend Portfolio Assessments, understand requirements, support relationships between direct and indirect customers, support development of international consumers
Develop key relationships in domestic and/or international government markets, with a primary responsibility to identify and develop opportunities for CXC Division expansion
Develop strategies and proposals for short and long-range R&D planning
Acts as liaison with government agencies and offices as required
Assist in coordination of cross-team efforts spanning internal customers and external partners
Interface with external agencies supporting research and development in alignment with CXC Division goals
Travel to customer facilities to assist with strategic integration
Principal Strategic Analyst Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Generate technical documents and non-technical administrative documents as required by the CXC Division
Support CXC Division administrative actions as required
Provide input/feedback to the Division Leadership and the development teams
Anticipated salary range: $200, 000 - $225,000. Offer may vary depending on experience and skill set.
